The Lowdown on Xeno-estrogens - How These Mimickers can Wreak Havoc on Your Life

Written by

Women shouldn't be afraid of their body’s naturally produced hormones! Your hormones are a vital element of your overall biological makeup. Hormones travel throughout the body coordinating complex processes like growth, metabolism, body temperature, hunger, moods, calcium regulation, blood sugar levels and fertility.  They are necessary to the healthy functioning all of your body systems, not just your reproductive system.

However, there are toxic chemicals that will impersonate as hormones in your body. This includes estrogen in the form of xeno-estrogen. Xeno-estrogens will wreak havoc on hormonal balance and can lead to breast cancer. In fact, the heavy xeno-estrogenic load that both men and women are carrying with today is one of the major causes, if not the major cause, of estrogen-positive breast cancer in women today.

Where are Xeno-estrogens hiding?

For the last few decades, there has been mounting confirmation of the health dangers of chemical toxins. Here is a basic list of the major sources of Xenoestrogens in particular. Make every effort to avoid these common, everyday sources of xeno-estrogens:

  • Commercial dairy and meat product (contains growth hormones);
  • Commercially processed food (contains preservatives such as BHA as well as food dyes and flavor enhancers, artificial sweeteners, MSG, Propyl gallate and 4-hexylresorcinol);
  • Canned foods and plastics containers (contains BPA and BPA-S);
  • Commercial, non-organic fruits and vegetables (contains pesticides);
  • Commercial sunscreens (contains 4-MBC);
  • Antiperspirants made with Metalloestrogens such as aluminum;
  • Commercial makeup and sundry products (contains parabens and phenoxyethanol);
  • Commercial detergents and surfactants; dryer sheets
  • Pesticides and herbicides;
  • Tap water (contains oral contraceptive contamination and petroleum derivatives)
  • Foods that contain soy protein and soy protein isolate
  • Birth control pills and conventional hormone replacement therapy (HRT).

Note that xenoestrogens entering the skin go directly to tissue without passing through the liver for detoxification. So they're 100% absorbed by the body and can be 10 times more potent than those consumed orally.

What Xeno-estrogens Do In Your Body

Xeno-estrogens are “alien estrogens” which replicate aggressive estrogens and hide in mammary tissue and estrogen receptor sites in the body.  These potent chemicals are powerfully dangerous and research has found high levels of them in most breast cancer tumors.

Because estrogen is involved in dozens of hormonal pathways in the body, the concern with xeno-estrogen is also whether or not estrogen methylation. in general, is taking place in a healthy way. Methylation is a multifaceted bio-chemical process that takes place in our body every day. Think of the methylation process like the spark plug in a car that produces certain chemical reactions. Methylation causes hormones and proteins to “change” into different substances. For example, methylation helps change serotonin into melatonin. It helps convert “strong” estrogens to milder, less aggressive estrogens.

Methylation is also essential for the proper expression of DNA and detoxification pathways in the liver.  Scientists have proven that cancer cells have abnormal methylation.

If your body is not able to metabolize or break-down the chemical estrogens, then upsurge of estrogen will occur. Another concern is how Xeno-estrogen meddle with not only the reproductive system (for both men and women) but how it affects other cellular functions too. For example, Xeno-estrogen build-up can change brain chemistry and lead to neurological conditions. It can also cause an imbalance in cortisol levels and a thyroid hormone deficiency. In a vicious cycle, these other effects of xeno-estrogens are also related to high breast cancer risk.

Other widespread symptoms of compromised detoxification pathways caused by estrogen dominance include stubborn weight gain, anxiety, and premenstrual symptoms such as breast tenderness, acne, irritability, fatigue and brain fog. Xeno-estrogen dominance can contribute to worsening of health conditions such as infertility, fibrocystic breasts, repeated miscarriages, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, osteoporosis, and preeclampsia as well as increase the risk of developing certain cancers such as prostate, uterine, ovarian, colorectal, kidney and liver cancers.

Being proactive with prevention is essential to balancing your hormones. In addition to overall organic living, reducing toxic exposure and focusing on a healthy lifestyle, there are also simple detoxifying prescription formulas that you can take to help your body (specifically your liver), metabolize estrogen in order to break down those toxic xeno-estrogens in the body.

It's a sad fact that we're now living in a contaminated world and we can't avoid or eliminate all of the pollutants in our environment.

What we can do, though, is partake in some detoxifying cleanses. Learn more about products such as the PST-Tox, which helps remove insecticides, pesticides, fertilizers that are often found on nerve endings, fat tissue, and sex organs and the MTL-Tox, which helps eliminate metals such as mercury, cadmium, lead and arsenic.
