White Bean Hummus

This Italian-style puree is served like a condiment—you can serve it on individual small plates with grilled sourdough bread, use it as a spread in your wraps, or take it to your next get-together and serve it as a dip with cut up veggies and toasted pita. It will keep in the refrigerator in a sealed container for up to five days. Move over, avocado toast—white bean hummus is here!

After more than a year of trying to “be still” and “quieting my monkey mind”, I finally purchased a book titled, "How to meditate with your Dog", written by James Jacobson.

According to the author, dogs meditate every single day.  Every day, your dog lives totally in the moment where your pooch is focused on simply being…and not doing. Wow, I thought. My dog meditates...a lot.

How owning a dog could improve your health

Nearly everyone will smile when they’re petting a dog. If the dog happens to plant a big kiss right on your hands or face, you will most likely laugh and giggle, even while pushing the dog away. Did you know that dogs can bring more than a smile to your face, though? Research demonstrates that they actually improve your health.

When clients first enter my office, one of the most common goals they have is to shed pounds. They soon find out, however, that it’s easier said than done; there are so many factors that go into a person’s weight-loss journey, and these can be both deeply personal and highly varied.

Pasta with Marinara Sauce

A nutritious pasta that's a great alternative for children!

Why it’s so good for you:

The health benefits of peppers include relief from cancer, peptic ulcer, menopausal problems, low risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. It has anti-inflammatory, analgesic properties and may also provide relief of pain related to arthritis. It also provides relief from fibromyalgia, skin aging and psoriasis.

DID YOU KNOW? Grapefruit is a good source of vitamin C and A, dietary fiber, potassium, folate, and other nutrients. Arugula, sometimes known by the more interesting name "rocket," is famous salad green that's loved for its delightfully pungent leaves and unique appearance. It has glucosinates that offer antioxidant benefits and enzymes that can help with detoxification. Arugula is also an excellent source of fiber, vitamins A, B6, C, and K, calcium, folate, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, and potassium. You can also get high levels of zinc, copper, protein, thiamin, and pantothenic acid from this vegetable.

It’s estimated that nearly half of all Canadians over age 50 may be at risk with their bone health. And countless others of all ages are not getting sufficient bone-building nutrients in their diets and the physical activity needed for bones strong enough to last a lifetime.

Should you be worried about Lyme Disease

Lyme Disease Treatment and Prevention Tips

Lyme disease is a intricate infection that is caused by bacteria that’s spread from a tick or insect bite. Most cases of Lyme are due to a bite from a type of deer tick known as the black-legged tick, which can transmit and pass on bacteria known as borrelia burgdorferi.  According to the Canadian Lyme Disease Foundation, more recently it’s also been established that other insects can also spread Lyme disease or cause similar infections — including other types of ticks, mosquitoes, and possibly spiders or fleas.

If there's one confirmable truth I've learned about weight loss over the last several years it's this...

Unless you change how your brain is wired, dieting won't work for you as a long term solution.

It's frustrating and annoying ... but it's true...

You see, according to Stanford University, 97% of people who lose weight regain it, and more, within 3 years.

Willpower is one of humans weakest of mental forces. We often think of willpower as an aspect of our moral character, or as a tool that gets better with age or more effective with practice. This common myth reveals our preconceived notion — it suggests that all the willpower we need is there, waiting for us to muster, rally, raise us, and we can summon it at a snap of a finger. If we fail on our diet, then shame on us.

But willpower isn’t what you think it is and doesn’t work how you think it works.
